A murky pool waiting in the tub, glasses with a film you can write your name in, or water seeping onto the kitchen floor? A local technician comes by, works out what quit and gets the racks coming out clean.

Six dishwasher faults keep us busiest in township kitchens. Each tag shows the components we check first.
Leftovers compacted in the filter cylinder, a glass splinter locking up the impeller, or a one-way valve stuck shut.
Spray arms with blocked jets, a wash motor losing strength, or a fill valve barely cracking open.
A door gasket gone flat, a split seal around the sump, or a connection under the tub that has backed off.
The heating element has failed, or its thermostat never signals it to switch on.
A latch switch with worn contacts, a keypad short, or the safety float in the base pan lifting.
Olive pits or bone bits lodged by the chopper, a circulation pump bearing nearing its end, or a motor fighting a jam.
Dishwasher styles we fix
Whether it came with the house or arrived on a delivery truck last month, chances are our technicians have already had one just like it apart on the workbench.
When a cycle runs into trouble, recent dishwashers flash a short code. Look yours up below.
Supply problem
Water is arriving without enough pressure or heat. Open the valve below the sink as far as it turns.
Try this firstStuck button
One of the keys reads as held. Switch off and press each button once to free it.
Try this firstHeater error
The heater is reading temperature incorrectly and needs testing.
Call a technicianLeak detected
Moisture showed up beneath the tub, so the unit keeps trying to drain.
Call a technicianNo water detected
The tub never registered water. Confirm the supply is on and the line runs straight.
Try this firstLeak or drain fault
Moisture around the base, or the drain line routed the wrong way.
Call a technicianPower interruption
A power dip stopped the cycle. Restart it, as this is usually not a fault.
Try this firstCommunication error
The electronic parts have lost contact, often from loose wiring or water damage.
Call a technicianMissing from both brands, or flashing again an hour later? The part behind it gets tested on our visit.

Every morning the tub held a few inches of grey water. A broken wine glass had left a chunk behind the impeller. Cleared, filter cleaned, drains like new.
Water crept onto the tile every cycle and stained the cabinet base. New gasket and a snugged-up connection underneath. Dry ever since.
Glasses came out cloudy and wet. A new heating element went in that same visit, and the plates are hot to the touch when the cycle ends.
Some dishwasher hiccups sort themselves out with a quick look. Go down this list before you call.
Panel responding
Child lock off, and the dishwasher breaker reset in the panel.
Filter cleaned
The cylinder under the bottom rack unscrewed, rinsed and locked back in.
Spray arms turning
Both arms spin freely by hand, with no blocked jets.
Hot water first
The kitchen tap run hot for half a minute before pressing Start.
