Hockey socks that need a third run, a drum humming without budging, or a screech that carries out to the porch? A technician from nearby finds whatever wore out and has every load finishing in one pass.

Gas or electric, the dryers we open across the township tend to fail in six familiar ways. Each tag shows where testing starts.
An open spot in the heating coil, a popped thermal fuse, or a gas igniter glowing red beside a burner that never lights.
A drive belt in two pieces, a tensioner pulley worn glassy, or a tired motor unable to get the drum going.
Support rollers with flat spots, a rear shaft bearing out of grease, or felt seals frayed along the front lip.
A waxy glaze from sheets coating the moisture strips, or a thermostat clicking off long before the clothes are dry.
A door switch blind to the door, a start button past its life, or a control board receiving no power.
The high-limit stat is fused closed or a thermistor is misreporting. Leave the dryer off until it has been tested.
Dryer types we fix
Whether it came with the house or arrived on a delivery truck last month, chances are our technicians have already had one just like it apart on the workbench.
A dryer that stops halfway usually flashes a code first. Match yours on the panels.
Software downloading
A firmware update is installing. Keep it plugged in and it restarts on its own when done.
Try this firstChild Lock on
The buttons are locked out. Press and hold the Child Lock key until the symbol disappears.
Try this firstDry time error
A drying time fault is logged and survives every restart.
Call a technicianVoltage error
Supply voltage to the dryer is abnormal. It needs a dedicated circuit and no extension cord.
Call a technicianDoor open
Push the lint filter all the way in, free any caught sleeve and close the door firmly.
Try this firstLint filter not seated
Pull the filter out and slide it back until it sits flush.
Try this firstPower failure
Usually follows an outage. Unplug, hold Start for five seconds, then plug back in.
Try this firstThermistor fault
A heat sensor inside the cabinet is reporting figures the control throws out.
Call a technicianYour code isn't listed, or it comes straight back after a restart? A technician will put a meter on the part.

Drum went round and round but only blew cold. He found a broken heating coil, swapped it during the visit and the towels come out warm again.
Our dryer squealed like a barn door. He fitted fresh rollers plus a belt. It runs so quietly now I forget it's on.
It kept shutting off with everything still damp. He scrubbed the moisture strips, checked the control and told me which sheets leave that film. Full cycles ever since.
A few dryer stoppages have nothing to do with broken parts. Give these a minute before booking.
Power at the dryer
An electric unit runs off a two-pole breaker, so flip the whole handle off and on.
Lint screen cleaned
Pulled out, cleared and rinsed if it feels waxy from dryer sheets.
Door latching firmly
No sleeve caught in the opening, and a solid click when it closes.
Load a sensible size
Big loads split in two so clothes have space to tumble.
